The Dowina GD is their take on the historic OM body shape. It's slightly narrower in depth on the waist making it extremely comfortable to hold. It's a touch smaller to the Grand Auditorium body being a good alternative to any GA if you want something a little smaller without sacrificing any bottom end in the tone.
The Day Dream is a new model for Dowina and new to the UK. It has choice Khaya Mahogany for the back and sides which is an absolutely stunning wood. It's incredibly well-balanced in tone and gives you that vintage voice that is very well-known in the industry. The top is Swiss Moon Spruce, a modern aspect of guitar making and an incredibly sought-after material. Moon Spruce is grown at altitude in the Swiss Alps and cut down during the Luna cycles. This means that the grain structure is very dense and uniform due to it being grown at altitude, this gives a far more resonant tone that has a lot of volume behind it. You can make the plates thinner because they are far stronger.
Cutting the wood during certain cycles of the moon, in short, is about the sap content within the wood. At certain times, the sap travels down to the root structure and the tree in theory hibernates. During this hibernation, the tree is cut. This means the grain structure remains tight and far more uniform and in turn, gives a far more stable wood that can be pushed to its limits of thickness resulting in a far greater volume and tonality from an instrument. It's an incredible wood to work with and only seen on small output guitars.
