GAC stands for Grand Auditorium Cutaway. This is Dowinas take on the traditional and ever-popular Grand Auditorium body shape. It's a similar size bottom bout to a dreadnaught but with a tighter waist meaning it sits lower down on the leg making it more comfortable to reach over the body. It digs in a lot less in the chest than a traditional dreadnaught but still carries the amazing voice and volume of a dreadnaught. It's a great alternative with comfort in mind. As I always say 'comfort is king'. The more comfortable the guitar the more you'll tend to pick it up.
The Swiss Spruce top is an incredible wood that is grown at altitude making the grain structure far tighter than other Spruces which in turn makes it far more resonant with incredible sustain and harmonic content.
Indian Rosewood is the industry's go-to these days as a replacement for the saught after Brazilian Rosewood. Indian Rosewood is extremely well balanced with a subtle low end and lush top end that carries wonderful sustain. Dowina uses only the best Indian Rosewood in their builds making sure each one has not only beauty but incredible tonality in mind.
Finished in the incredible vintage semi-gloss. This finish feel completely natural whilst sealing the wood making it more stable than Dowina's standard open pore finishes. It feels smooth to the touch and still lets the wood breath!
What Dowina say
"The striking contrast between Rosewood and Spruce inspired both the design and the name of the MoonAge model. Imagine the dark surface of the night illuminated by the white light of the moon – that’s the effect we’ve achieved with sparkling white Swiss Spruce set against dark Indian Rosewood. With subtle details in the inlay and pearl logo, our goal was to create a timeless guitar."
