The Dowina Bona Vida was designed by Erika to be able to offer a parlour 'esque' body shape. Although slightly altered to the traditional parlour the Bona Vida still features a 12th fret body join and the bridge fitted in the widest part of the bottom bout. The main difference is that it's still a 25 1/2-inch scale length. The slightly longer scale means the strings are under less tension and the Bona Vida is easier to play than most parlours because of this.
They are well-balanced instruments and super comfortable to hold. You really can't go wrong if you're looking for a smaller instrument to relax with and enjoy. The tonality is very well balanced between strings with a nice mid-present punch. They are perfect for soft fingerpicking or for melodic lead lines that cut through the mix or other instruments in a band setup. They are great for gigging or for relaxing at home.
"I was lucky enough to be able to see the oak tree at the Dowina factory, The team was hard at work milling it into sections and picking the best portions for backplates and sides. It was an experience too see the thought process behind turning an entire tree into raw plates ready for ageing in the wood store" Ryan - WM Guitars
What Dowina say
"Have you ever seen all solid oak on a guitar? We have. The idea behind the DUB model was to use local wood from sustainable sources, but at the same time to reach a full and resonant sound. DUB (meaning ‘oak’ in slovak) is special in both ways, the unique visual is just a nice complement to a strong and full sound."
