“The best guitars can change your life” Ben Crowe
Some of you may have seen the recent video by Master-luthier Ben Crowe of Crimson Guitars, waxing lyrical about his love for a JKM Guitars built steel string. After seeing the wave of positive response to Ben’s video and JKM we felt this was a great time to remind everyone that we are exclusive UK retailers for JKM guitars.
We pride ourselves on curating our wonderful Luthiers corner with handmade acoustics built by the best builders from all over the United Kingdom and Europe, JKM is just one of many fantastic Luthiers we work with to provide our ever-growing collection of handmade acoustic guitars.
Jacob K Menear is the founder, name-sake and builder of JKM’s incredible instruments, with an outstanding eye for detail Jacob builds some of the very best acoustic guitars available today.
Currently we have 2 of his guitars in store,
Firstly a foundation series 485 model: This orchestra size acoustic features a Sitka top with Black Cherry back and sides, Maple Neck and Binding, Indian Rosewood Fretboard and Bridge and a K&K Pickup system pre-installed. Finished in a simple oil coat to allow as much resonance as possible this guitar might even appear understated to people used to a more “showy” kind of custom build, yet this guitar has no need of any visual distractions since it sounds absolutely wonderful. A present yet expertly balanced tone both accentuates the warmth and bass of the low notes and maintains rich harmonic content and clarity on the high strings too. This guitar really makes you want to play it.
Secondly in our line up is an Empire series 460 model, this parlour sized beauty represents the very best of Jacobs workmanship. Featuring a Western Red Cedar top with Black Limba back, neck and (sound ported) sides, Massacar Ebony fingerboard and bridge, genuine Abalone rosette and a top of the line K&K Trinity pro Microphone/Pickup pre-amp system. Finished as always in a simple oil finish to preserve the resonance of the woods, this guitar is as beautiful in sound as it is in looks, with a surprisingly warm tone for its size this guitar is neigh unmatched in its quality of both design and manufacture.
We really love JKM here and currently have another one on order we can’t wait to show off when it arrives, a Foundation series 514 with Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides.
